Pre-Clinical Teaching
Phase I of the teaching (Years 1 and 2) is conducted in the completed IMC facilities. The Kulliyyah of Medicine at IMC was officially declared open by HRH Sultan of Pahang on 12th June 2004. Modern teaching facilities have been installed in the teaching halls (in both the JHC and IMC) with sympodium LCD projection system, audiovisual systems and internet facility. The library is also operating in both campuses on a daily basis. Clinical departments will also expand into the IMC campus subsequently when the university’s own teaching hospital is built.
The IIUM Medical Programme was given recognition by the Malaysian Medical Council following an accreditation exercise in November 2001. A full five year accreditation was given after satisfying all requirements of a good medical school.
Clinical Teaching
In Phases II and III of the medical programme (years 3, 4 and 5) students will come into direct contact with patients under the supervision of clinicians and HTAA specialists in the wards and clinics of the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital and Temerloh Hospital. This is also done in some accredited hospitals and health centres in Pahang. Students are taught disciplines such as internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and other related disciplines. Clinical skills related to diagnosis, investigations and patient management are the main emphasis of the teaching programme.
Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) is the main teaching hospital for the Kulliyyah of Medicine IIUM. An agreement was duly signed between the Ministry of Health of Malaysia and IIUM to this effect on the 21st October 1997. The hospital serves people from the different regions and major towns of the state of Pahang. The main hospital building consists of an imposing 10 storey tower block where the administrative offices, services and wards are located. HTAA is committed to excellence in its service to the public.
As of early 2005, a new ambulatory care centre housed in a 4-storey block next to the HTAA main building was completed and in use to further enhance both service and clinical teaching. Paediatric teaching is also done at Temerloh Hospital.
The 4th year students do a community posting (Community Health and Family Medicine) and are posted to the Jerantut Hospital, Pekan Hospital and health centres around Kuantan. The Hospital Jerantut is a 77 bedded hospital. Students began their rural posting since 1998. They conduct surveys on smoking, perform general health survey, maternal and child health, KAP on diabetes, KAP on stroke etc. Students also join the Health Inspectors and Public Health Nurses and are involved in the following programmes: Vector Control, Communicable Disease, Food Quality Control, Water and Environment Sanitation, School Health, Water Treatment, Orang Asli Settlement and also visit factories. Family medicine training is done in 3 places, Jaya Gading, Balok and Beserah, all in Kuantan District.

❤¸¸.•* Sesungguhnya aku sedang menasihati kamu, bukanlah bererti akulah yg terbaik dlm kalangan kamu. *•.¸¸¸❤
